EXCERPT FROM ANGELS of REDEMPTION:

"The despair was like a vacuum. She couldn't stop the spiraling pain that consumed every inch of her. It had been three months since the accident, but the pain only grew worse.
There was no comfort in sight for Sarah as she fell deeper and deeper into a black pit of crippling despair. Free falling out of control into her awaiting prison of pain and loneliness.
   Her Hell..."

Welcome to Fight Club

For those of you who don't know I am a practicing martial artist as well as a certified personal trainer alongside my writing career. It seemed a natural progression then that I be asked to put on some workshops demonstrating how to write fight scenes for novels. When I say demonstrating I mean very hands-on, get out of your seat and participate type of learning. The response has been overwhelming. It was a nice blend of entertainment and information.

At the beginning of class I played a small video package to jazz the students into action. Here now, at request, is that video:

WINNING! Contest and Fun Guest Blog Spot

I promised you updates and here's a little something to sate that hunger. I recently was a guest on Brandyz Books where we talked a little bit about characterization and how the characters never really leave you. I'm running out of space upstairs in the old noggin' with all the characters running around in there.

Here is the link to the blog. Be sure to post a comment for your chance to win a copy of my thriller LIFE DEATH and BACK

Brandyz Books Contest

In the meantime the journey continues. After a harrowing last few days through the inner sanctum of what I can only assume is the FORGOTTEN part of La La land I am back closer to the shore where the air is cleaner, the sky looks brighter, and it generally feels "normal" not like a fight for your life.

In any event we venture on.

ORIGINAL CYN TIP: When your back is against the wall all you can do is work your way out of it using your wits, strength, and perserverance. In other words, give things a chance before running from them. You never know where something will pan out unless you give it a shot. In the words of TV's toughest trainer Jillian Michaels "Don't be afraid to fail or even to struggle."

Until next time!

The Journey Begins...Follow Original Cyn as she blazes trails

My blog has always been about doing what you love. Life is short. Recently a dear friend of mine passed away so suddenly and unexpectedly that it alternately ripped out my heart and slapped me in the face. The slap in the face is because I finally woke up and realized I was wasting my life. She had lost hers, I was no longer content to sitting around and letting mine slip through my fingers.

In an effort to live life to the fullest I've set out to see and do things I've only ever talked about...until now! Join me here at my blog of the ride of a lifetime. Each week I'm going to bring you new info on different places I'm visiting. First Stop: L.A.

So the journey began by packing up my car and driving out to L.A. from Sin City for the Romantic Times Book Convention being held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown L.A. To sum up: The week was a whirlwhind of promo blazing, autograph signing, fast talking, and most of all fun.

ORIGINAL CYN TIP: Aspiring writers. You HAVE to network! Get out there and press the flesh. You don't do yourself any good by just sitting in your room or office writing. Yes, the manuscript must get finished but you can't isolate yourself. It's not good for the soul or your career. Make the rounds, get out of your comfort zone.

Some of my favorite highlights include meeting Mr. DEAN KOONTZ. His work inspired me to start writing and I finally got a chance to thank him for it. So I can cross that off my bucket list!

I met some very interesting people this time around. Some very memorable characters who made the entire experience that much more worthwhile. Certain people who I hope stay a part of my life and some whom I shared moments with that I will never forget.

I'd been invited to do a workshop about How to Write Fight Scenes For Novels. It involved alot of my background as a personal trainer and martial artist and not just as a writer. I thank everyone who attended and I hope you learned something useful and had fun. I'll be taking this workshop on tour to different conventions so if you see it on the bill please come join in. The experience is interactive and informative...and apparently infamous from the feedback I received from the convention goers.

The parties, and there were many, were a good chance to mingle and let loose.

ORIGINAL CYN TIP: I've now realized the importance of spreading your wings and flying. It makes all the difference from breaking the chains of complacency.

Don't forget to come back for the next leg of the journey...and more great tips!

And as always kids, live your dreams!
