*UPDATE:WINNER CHOSEN. CONTEST CLOSED
It's officially March. And other than St. Paddy's Day and the first day of spring around the corner it is also National Reading Month. With all the technology in the world to entertain us it is easy to forget how a book can transport you to different worlds. But now with the Kindle, Nook, and other e-readers there is no excuse to not curl up with a good book. Here is what I am currently reading:
WHY YOUR LIFE SUCKS AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT by ALAN COHENI love this book! Ok, so that's not so helpful to you but let me elaborate. I first picked up this book in the store off a whim thinking "what kind of title is that?"
Turns out its a good one. We've all said it one time or another "my life sucks."
So Alan Cohen tells you how to make it NOT suck. He spells out the matters we all face but probably overlook in well thought out, yet easy to follow advice.
I found myself nodding in agreement with every word in every chapter. Even the book itself is enjoyable to hold. The print and soft cover make it pleasing to hold as well. That makes a difference to me, heavy books with thick paper tend to stay on shelves.
Most of the time I'll peruse a book in the store once and that will be the end of it. With "Why your life sucks" I found myself revisiting it...in different bookstores until finally I lamented to buy it! Yes, it's that good.
So if your life sucks and you don't necessarily know why forget all the rest and pick up Cohen's gem here. That's not a paid endorsement, that's the real deal for a really good book.
CONTEST: Tell me what you're reading and why in a post and I'll choose a random winner to receive a PDF copy of one of my novels below...YOUR CHOICE!
Need some more ideas on what to read this month? Here are some books you just have to see:
Cynthia Vespia is the author of character driven suspense fiction. Find out more at www.CynthiaVespia.com
I was reading Dracula, but stopped. The journal entry was a drag to read. Now I'm reading Sun Burnt Country, it's about Australia. So far it's been a good read.

Hi Cynthia,
ReplyDeleteI'm reading How to Flirt with A Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper. I love the way Molly writes. She snarky and funny with her tales in her books.
I also consider Molly a friend and I like to support my friends and my new friends on the blogs and there works.
Wishing you much success with your books.

I'm trying to read Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte for a book club but I'm finding it very hard to get into. I may have the "force" myself to read 40 pages a day to get it finished for book club then I can reward myself with Dragon Warrior by Janet Chapman, also for a book club or I'll read Timeless by Alexandra Monir bacause I read an interview with her and the book sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Monica Burn's Pleasure Me. I love Monica's work, and Monica as a lady, she's great. I found the book on discount at our borders that's closing down. I'm sad about the store closing, but I'm not going to argue against the discounts on books I really want.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Freedom by Jonathan Franzen and I'm frankly going very slowly through it. Parts of it are enjoyable, but some parts bog down in too much detail about things I am not interested. One thing is I have no idea how the book is going to end and I think it has some political tones too.
ReplyDeleteright now I'm reading On the Hunt
